Most new builds have extremely poor soil that remains after the topsoil is excavated and sold. It is common to see new sod struggle and amendments are needed to improve the soil conditions. Keep in mind that nutrients that exist in the soil get consumed by the grass.
Fertilization provides basic nutrients but not additional nutrients, in most cases. We have found our soil enrichment program helps high fungus and strengthen the grass as far more nutrients are part of the soil enrichment program. Think of it as a multivitamin for your lawn.
