Sunday founded in 2019 is a “self service” or “do it yourself” lawn care service. You sign up for a plan online and then products are delivered to your home to service your lawn with. It is a subscription service that must be canceled in order for the deliveries to stop. Sunday provides several different options for lawn care including fertilizer, weed control, grub control, pet patch, and other options that can be added to your subscription.
Sunday is self service, meaning you must treat the lawn yourself using your hose or other means. Sunday will provide some of the equipment you need however you must provide everything else yourself and make sure that your hose is long enough to reach across your entire lawn.
Sunday will provide an assessment of your lawn on their website based on your zip code, however it is not specific to your exact lawn. You must also self assess your lawn and add additional products like grub control if needed based on your own analysis.
Sunday will provide a guarantee in the sense that they may send additional products to your home if you feel like they are not working properly however they will not provide a refund and it will still be up to the homeowner to determine what is needed to fix any issues that may arise.

Lawn Doctor founded in 1967 is a full service lawn care provider providing fertilization, weed control, soil enrichment, pest control, etc. Lawn Doctor is a franchise company meaning that the local Lawn Doctor is owned and operated by someone local in your area. Lawn Doctor provides free lawn care estimates. Someone will come to your home to assess your lawn and provide a comprehensive customized plan for your lawn.
Lawn Doctor is full service, meaning that a lawn technician will come to your home throughout the lawn to service your lawn with exactly what it needs. Checking your lawn each time to determine exactly what it needs.
Lawn Doctor provides a guarantee so that if something is not right they will fix it. The lawn technician will return to the property as many times as needed to assess what is going on and do what is needed to make it right.
Pricing
One of the biggest questions when it comes to comparing lawn care services is around pricing. Sunday prices depending on what is specifically purchased for your specific lawn. Sunday provides a recommendation and then allows the customer to choose add ons. Pricing depends on what products are needed as well as what time of year you start your plan. Sunday’s website recommended a plan for me for the rest of this year. My recommended plan, plus weed control, will cost $411.20 including tax. It is assumed that this will get me everything I need through the rest of this year, however I’m not sure if I will need more of the same products or additional products to keep my lawn looking great. The price includes the one-time cost of equipment so the cost of Sunday could decrease next year. When I went through the check out process it said my cost next year would be $296+tax, however I don’t know what’s included or if I will need more products like weed control.
Lawn Doctor pricing also depends on what is needed as well as the time of the year services start. Lawn Doctor will provide me customized service for the rest of this year including weed control for $130.00. For the entire year the cost would be $390.00. I did not include grub control in either the Sunday quote nor the Lawn Doctor quote in order to keep the comparison the same. Lawn Doctor always included weed control.
Conclusion
It is not 100% clear what all is included with Sunday and if the right products will be delivered or how complicated it will be to maintain a great looking lawn. On the website it states that the application of one pouch takes 10-15 minutes, however it’s unclear how many pouches will be needed for each service and does not take into account how long it takes to prep the lawn, get out the equipment, etc. Pricing is actually more expensive than Lawn Doctor in year one and only slightly cheaper in year two. Personal time is also a big consideration when it comes to lawn care. Sunday requires your time, if you love yard work and lawn care Sunday might be the right solution for you.
Lawn Doctor is simple, professional, and effective. It is clear what you get, how it will all work, and it saves time. Pricing is straightforward and you have someone you can talk to and that will guarantee results and return to make it right no matter what. If you are looking for a straightforward affordable solution Lawn Doctor might be the right choice for you.
