Power Seeding in Millville and Surrounding Areas

Maintaining a healthy, vibrant lawn can be challenging, especially when dealing with issues like thin or bare patches. Lawn Doctor’s power seeding service offers a solution to these common lawn problems, ensuring a lush, green lawn that enhances your property’s curb appeal. Power seeding is a method of planting grass seed directly into the soil. Unlike traditional seeding methods, power seeding ensures better seed-to-soil contact, which significantly improves germination rates and results in a thicker, healthier lawn.

How does Power Seeding work?

Power seeding involves using Lawn Doctor’s patented Turf Tamer that is designed to plant seeds at the optimal depth and rate. The power seeder injects seed into the soil without damaging any existing turf. This increases seed-to-soil contact raising the germination rate to 90%.

Choosing the right type of seed is also crucial for a successful seeding. At Lawn Doctor we use a blend of Ryegrass and Kentucky Blue Grass. The Ryegrass will begin germinating within 2 weeks of the service. The Kentucky Blue Grass will start germinating within 3 to 6 weeks.

Fall is the best time for power seeding your lawn. First, power seeding will help influence the lawn’s look for the following spring. Second, due to its warm days, cool nights and ample precipitation, fall is also ideal for proper germination and early turf development. In addition, grass seed sown in the fall can establish itself more quickly, due to reduced competition from broadleaf weeds.

What should I do after a Power Seeding service?

Proper watering and sprinkler coverage is the most important aspect to ensure the seed germinates. For areas that already have established grass you can water as you normally would. For bare or patchy areas larger than a basketball you will need to water 1 to 2 times a day for 10 to15 minutes for 3 to 4 weeks. Hand watering these areas might be the easiest way to effectively do this.

Skip mowing for two weeks on areas that are already established. You should not mow any bare or patchy areas until the new grass has reached one third of an inch higher than when you would normally mow.
