“I know that there are people who have healthy, normal relationships with their brothers and sisters, but our family isn’t really like that,” Connor said. “We’re all very competitive. Everyone wants to be the best at everything. When we were kids, it was racing bikes, skiing, stuff like that. But now we’re grown and everybody wants to have the best house.”
Crabgrass – A Blemish in a Beautiful Lawn
“So somehow amongst us all, the landscaping got to be a little competitive. Jeannie put in a dogwood tree, so Erin got two Japanese maples.” Connor laughed. “The problem with this game is it gets expensive fast. But don’t worry. We can always pick apart what’s already in place. That’s always fun.”
Connor’s sister Erin was fond of mentioning how much crabgrass grew in her brother’s backyard. “And it’s a stupid little thing,” he said. “But I’d find myself looking out the window into the backyard, the kids are playing, the dog is lounging, my beautiful wife is out there tending to her garden, and what am I noticing? The stupid crabgrass.”
“I heard that the Hyde Park lawn care company has a treatment that’s really good for eliminating crabgrass, so I called them to find out what was involved. My first concern was price, to be honest, but everything turned out to be much more reasonable than you might expect. They come to your property and use a treatment that eliminates the crabgrass in the ground, even before it starts to grow.” Because Connor had a significant crabgrass issue going on, he had three treatments that initial summer. “After that, we kept with that treatment schedule, and I haven’t had any issues with the crabgrass returning. I’m really very pleased – especially since it took Erin almost twenty full minutes to figure out something else to criticize once she realized the crabgrass was gone!”
